Firm Overview

Facing the Future with Hope

A Fresh Start Mediation is a firm with a mission—to resolve family law problems in a positive, creative and life-affirming manner.

Sue Brown is a family law attorney who guides clients through the process of separation and divorce using the conflict resolution methods of mediation and collaborative process. These alternatives to traditional adversarial divorce proceedings allow people to create solutions that enable them to move forward in their lives, with less emotional turmoil and fewer regrets. All issues of child custody, visitation, child support, property division and spousal support can be addressed and resolved with dignity.

A Certified Mediator

Sue Brown is a mediator certified by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission, and has been using these techniques for over 10 years. She is also a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals and the North Carolina Bar Association's Alternative Dispute Resolution section.

Sue limits her practice to these solutions-based techniques because she has seen the damage inflicted on clients and their families by the adversarial process. Resolving issues in a collaborative way can produce solutions that are positive, durable and focused on the future. In founding A Fresh Start Mediation, Sue has committed her years of experience and her expertise to providing a place for divorcing couples where divorce is a problem to be solved, not a battle to be won.

A Comfortable Environment for a Tense Time

Sue takes her commitment to her clients seriously, treating them with the respect and understanding they deserve. Her offices provide a comfortable and relaxed environment where clients can discuss their concerns in confidence and security.

Located in Chapel Hill near the junction of I-40 and Highways 15-501, A Fresh Start Mediation serves clients in The Triangle and elsewhere in North Carolina.
